Although Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations might be a little different this year, you can still enjoy a festive spread at home! We’ve curated three simple recipes to help you have a delicious celebration. Today's recipe is a popular Indian sweet that only requires a few ingredients and a little preparation, but the result is delicious!

Besan Ladoo

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 125g gram flour (besan)

  • 55g ghee

  • 65g powdered sugar

  • 1/4tsp cardamom powder

  • 2tsp chopped almonds

Method

1. Melt the ghee over a low heat in a heavy-bottom pan.
2. Add the sifted flour to the pan and mix together, keeping the heat low. At first it will stick together, but keep stirring and after about 15 minutes it will turn into a smooth paste as the ghee begins to ooze out. Once you smell the delicious nutty besan scent, it's time to turn the heat off.
3. Scrape the paste into a large mixing bowl, mix in the cardamom powder and leave to cool for 20 minutes. Once the mixture is cool to touch, combine the sugar and nuts. You should be left with a smooth dough.
4. Take a spoonful of the dough from the mixture and using the palms of your hands, roll into a round ball. You should create 10-12 ladoos, depending on size.
5. Sprinkle with some extra nuts to serve and store any extra in an airtight container.
