Ingredients

  • Snake gourd
  • Split yellow lentils
  • Garlic
  • Green chilli
  • Ginger
  • Red chillies
  • Turmeric powder
  • Asafoetida
  • Mustard seeds
  • Cooking oil
  • Cumin seeds
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves

Preparation method 

  1. Cut the snake gourd into pieces after removing the inner seeds and properly washing.
  2. Soak yellow lentils in water for an hour and pressure cook.
  3. Add green chilli, garlic, ginger, salt and turmeric powder in the pressure cooker and continue cooking. Remove after two whistles and set aside. 
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add both mustard seeds and asafoetida. 
  5. Add cumin seeds, green chillies and red chillies.
  6. Stir before adding snake gourd and the cooked yellow lentils. 
  7. Add some water and cook for five minutes.
