Technically a fruit but cooked as a vegetable, ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica and plays a starring role in the country?s national dish: ackee and saltfish. Ackee resembles somewhat like an apple but is part of the lychee family.

Ackee has a very mild savoury flavour with a slightly nutty undertone (often compared in taste to beans, almonds or avocado). Tropical Sun Ackee is expertly picked, cut, washed and tinned by hand by a team in Central Village, Jamaica ensuring maximum freshness and flavour, and uses no artificial chemicals.

Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened remove from can and place in a non-metallic container. Keep refrigerated and consume within 2 days.
